Environment North Carolina Releases 2006 Legislative Scorecard

Raleigh—Two senators and ten representatives voted to protect the environment 100% of the time in the 2006 short session, according to Environment North Carolina’s annual legislative scorecard.  The scorecard tracks votes on a range of votes affecting the state’s air, water, natural areas, and quality of life.  Click here to view the complete scorecard.

 

North Carolina House representatives voting to protect the environment 100% of the time were: Reps. Martha Alexander (Mecklenburg), Joe Hackney (Orange), Larry Hall (Durham), Pricey Harrison (Guilford), Verla Insko (Orange), Paul Luebke (Durham), Grier Martin (Wake), Deborah Ross (Wake), and Jennifer Weiss (Wake).  The late Rep. Bernard Allen (Wake) also received a 100% score.

 

The highest scoring House Republican was Rep. Larry Brown (Forsyth) with 80%.  Rep.  Bill Owens (Pasquotank) received the lowest score of any House Democrat with 30%.

 

Sens. Janet Cowell (Wake) and Ellie Kinnaird (Orange) were the lone state senators to receive a 100% score.  Sens. Doug Berger (Franklin), Linda Garrou (Forsyth), and Clark Jenkins (Edgecombe) were close behind, all with scores above 85%.

 

Sens. Stan Bingham (Davidson), Pete Brunstetter (Forsyth), Fletcher Hartsell (Cabarrus), and Richard Stevens (Wake) were the highest-scoring Senate Republicans—all receiving 78%.  Sens.  Malcolm Graham (Mecklenburg), Robert Holloman (Hertford), David Hoyle (Gaston), and David Weinstein (Robeson) were the lowest-scoring Democrats, with scores of 57%.
