Ask your Senator to restore open space funds

Every day, North Carolina loses another 300 acres of forests, farmlands, wetlands, and other open spaces—an area the size of 20 Wal-Marts—to development.

In their version of the state's spending plan, North Carolina House budget writers included $54 million in new funding for conserving open spaces in the face of this rapid development—helping to protect our most treasured natural areas, from Chimney Rock State Park to the Alligator River.

But Senate budget writers dealt a blow to land conservation when they cut out every single dollar of those new funds.

Ask your Senator to restore new land conservation funding to the state's budget.
