Save the Blue Ridge
From the Smokies, to Grandfather Mountain, to the Parkway,
North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains are famous.
That’s why in 2008, conservation officials awarded grants to
protect and expand state parks and other natural heritage areas in the Blue
Ridge, including funding to expand Chimney Rock State Park.
With the 75th anniversary of the Blue Ridge
Parkway approaching, Environment North Carolina is calling on state officials
to fulfill their commitments to protect the Blue Ridge. Sign our petition to Gov. Perdue to protect the Blue Ridge Mountains and other critical natural areas around the state.
Learn More: Save our million acres Environment North Carolina research shows that at least $250 million in
new funding is needed if North Carolina is to meet its goal of
preserving one million acres of open space by 2010. Read more.
