Will Sen. Dole keep doing the right thing on global warming?

Last fall, Sen. Joe Lieberman (CT) and Sen. John Warner (VA ) introduced the Climate Security Act of 2007, joined by our own Senator Elizabeth Dole.  In December the bill passed out of the environment committee, and in the coming months, it will be voted on the Senate floor.

The Climate Security Act could do more to cut greenhouse gas pollution.  But utility and oil interests are already pushing for the bill to do much less.  The bill stands just as much of a chance of being weakened on the floor of the Senate as it does to be strengthened.

Take a moment to sign the petition below to Sen. Dole, asking her to vote to strengthen, not weaken, the Climate Security Act.

Dear Senator Dole,

Thank you for sponsoring the Climate Security Act of 2007.

Global warming is one of the greatest threats our time which must be addressed with solutions that meet the enormity of the challenge before us.

As the Senate debates the bill this spring, please support amendments that will strengthen the bill and oppose any amendments that attempt to weaken it. We cannot afford to settle for less.
