Last week, hundreds of you sent a strong message to state legislators that when it comes to protecting North Carolina's coastal creeks, marshes, and wetlands, North Carolinians will respond.

Message More than a third of North Carolina's wetlands have been developed, and 56,000 acres of shellfishing beds have already been permanently closed due to pollution. New science-based rules are needed to protect North Carolina's coastal wetlands, creeks and sounds are long overdue. That is why I sent an e-mail to my state legislators asking them to protect our coastal waters by opposing H2185, "Disapprove Coastal Stormwater Rule," and other efforts to derail these critical clean water protections.
