Just the beginning for clean water

State officials have adopted new rules to protect North Carolina’s coastal waters — by safeguarding our marshes and other wetlands; lengthening the buffer between development and sensitive creeks and sounds, and ensuring that more developers build in a way that prevents polluted runoff.

Environment North Carolina supports the new rules.  But developers, realtors, and others swarmed lawmakers on Jones Street on the first day of the legislative session to undo these coastal water protections.  They said their efforts were "just the beginning."
